With the trade deadline in the rearview and the dog days of August setting in, it’s officially go-time across Major League Baseball. Playoff pushes are heating up, rosters are more or less set, and there’s no more waiting around for help that isn’t coming. Some teams are surging with new energy, others are reeling at the worst possible time, and everyone’s true identity is coming into focus. These power rankings reflect who’s rising, who’s falling, and who’s built to last, so with that in mind, let’s take a look at which teams are currently looking the strongest and weakest:
1. Milwaukee Brewers (67-44)
7/28 – vs. Cubs – Won 8-4
7/29 – vs. Cubs – Won 9-3
7/30 – vs. Cubs – Lost 10-3
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Nationals – Won 16-9
8/2 – @ Nationals – Won 8-2
8/3 – @ Nationals – Won 14-3
The Brewers went 5-1 this week, winning two of three against the Cubs and sweeping the Nationals. Christian Yelich was a standout, with multiple hits in every game against Washington, and Jackson Chourio also showed flashes before an injury slowed him down. Jacob Misiorowski will be missed as well for the next couple of weeks, but he delivered a strong outing Wednesday, and Trevor Megill helped shut down opponents late, showcasing how their combination of solid starting pitching and timely offense has them leading the NL Central once more.
Up next: @ Braves (8/4-6), vs. Mets (8/8-10)
2. Los Angeles Dodgers (65-47)
7/28 – @ Reds – Won 5-2
7/29 – @ Reds – Won 5-4
7/30 – @ Reds – Lost 5-2
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Rays – Won 5-0
8/2 – @ Rays – Lost 4-0
8/3 – @ Rays – Won 3-0
The Dodgers posted a strong 4-2 week, splitting a three-game series at the Reds before winning two of three at the Rays. Shohei Ohtani didn’t have his best week, but he continues to be a key offensive contributor, while Yoshinobu Yamamoto provided multiple quality starts, including a shutout to close the week. Freddie Freeman added timely RBIs and solid defense. The bullpen remained dependable, helping keep the Dodgers firmly on top of the NL West.
Up next: vs. Cardinals (8/4-6), vs. Blue Jays (8/8-10)
3. Chicago Cubs (65-46)
7/28 – @ Brewers – Lost 8-4
7/29 – @ Brewers – Lost 9-3
7/30 – @ Brewers – Won 10-3
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Orioles – Won 1-0
8/2 – vs. Orioles – Lost 4-3
8/3 – vs. Orioles – Won 5-3
The Cubs dropped two of three in Milwaukee before rebounding with a 2-1 series win over the Orioles, putting them at .500 for the week. Justin Turner’s pinch-hit two-run homer sealed a dramatic walk-off victory Sunday, while Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ delivered key RBI hits throughout. The bullpen was reliable, keeping the Orioles scoreless in critical moments. Chicago’s ability to bounce back showed their grit despite a tough road series.
Up next: vs. Reds (8/4-6), @ Cardinals (8/8-10)
4. Philadelphia Phillies (63-48)
7/28 – @ White Sox – Lost 6-2
7/29 – @ White Sox – Won 6-3
7/30 – @ White Sox – Lost 9-3
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Tigers – Won 5-4
8/2 – vs. Tigers – Lost 7-5
8/3 – vs. Tigers – Won 2-0
The Phillies also had an up-and-down win this week, losing a rough series in Chicago before edging out a tight series against Detroit. Cristopher Sánchez was dominant Sunday, tossing eight shutout innings in a 2-0 win, while Kyle Schwarber launched his 38th homer. Bryce Harper and Alec Bohm delivered timely hits to keep Philadelphia competitive. Though the Tigers pushed back with a strong outing from Tarik Skubal, the Phillies’ pitching and clutch hitting kept them in the playoff mix.
Up next: vs. Orioles (8/4-6), @ Rangers (8/8-10)
5. Detroit Tigers (65-48)
7/28 – vs. Diamondbacks – Won 5-1
7/29 – vs. Diamondbacks – Won 12-2
7/30 – vs. Diamondbacks – Won 7-2
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Phillies – Lost 5-4
8/2 – @ Phillies – Won 7-5
8/3 – @ Phillies – Lost 2-0
The Tigers rebounded and finished the week with four out of six wins, sweeping the Diamondbacks at home before losing a hard-fought series in Philadelphia. Tarik Skubal stood out on Saturday with ten strikeouts in a 7-5 win, while Spencer Torkelson and Riley Greene provided steady offense throughout. Despite narrow losses in two games, Detroit showed resilience, combining timely hitting with solid starting pitching as they continue building momentum in the competitive AL Central and pushing towards the postseason.
Up next: vs. Twins (8/4-6), vs. Angels (8/8-10)
6. Toronto Blue Jays (65-48)
7/28 – @ Orioles – Lost 11-4
7/29 – @ Orioles – Lost 16-4
7/29 – @ Orioles – Lost 3-2
7/30 – @ Orioles – Won 9-8
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Royals – Lost 9-3
8/2 – vs. Royals – Won 4-2
8/3 – vs. Royals – Lost 7-4 (10)
After a phenomenal week last week, the Blue Jays began struggling, losing five of their six games and dropping a series to the Orioles before splitting a home set with the Royals. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. delivered clutch hits in the tight 9-8 win over Baltimore, but Toronto’s pitching faltered in high-scoring losses. as well as their inconsistent offense. The Jays will look to regroup quickly as they chase a playoff spot in the competitive AL East.
Up next: @ Rockies (8/4-6), @ Dodgers (8/8-10)
7. San Diego Padres (62-50)
7/28 – vs. Mets – Won 7-6
7/29 – vs. Mets – Won 7-1
7/30 – vs. Mets – Won 5-0
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Cardinals – Won 4-1
8/2 – vs. Cardinals – Lost 8-5
8/3 – vs. Cardinals – Won 7-3
The Padres kept pace in the NL Wild Card race with a big week, sweeping the Mets, taking two of three from the Cardinals, and adding former Orioles Ryan O’Hearn and Ramón Laureano at the trade deadline. Luis Arraez extended his hitting streak to 16 games, while Jackson Merrill had a nice week at the plate and Dylan Cease on the mound Sunday. San Diego is heating up at just the right time.
Up next: @ Diamondbacks (8/4-6), vs. Red Sox (8/8-10)
8. New York Mets (63-49)
7/28 – @ Padres – Lost 7-6
7/29 – @ Padres – Lost 7-1
7/30 – @ Padres – Lost 5-0
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Giants – Lost 4-3 (10)
8/2 – vs. Giants – Won 12-6
8/3 – vs. Giants – Lost 12-4
After going 6-0 last week, the Mets struggled this week, going 1-5 overall. They were swept by the Padres in a tough three-game series, with their pitching staff unable to contain San Diego’s offense. They managed a bounce-back win against the Giants but fell in the other two games. Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor showed some fight at the plate, but inconsistent pitching and defensive lapses kept the Mets from gaining momentum during this rough stretch.
Up next: vs. Guardians (8/4-6), @ Brewers (8/8-10)
9. Boston Red Sox (62-51)
7/28 – @ Twins – Lost 5-4
7/29 – @ Twins – Won 8-5
7/30 – @ Twins – Won 13-1
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Astros – Won 2-1 (10)
8/2 – vs. Astros – Won 7-3
8/3 – vs. Astros – Won 6-1
The Red Sox were dominant this week, taking two of three in Minnesota before sweeping the Astros at Fenway. The offense was red-hot, highlighted by a 13-run outburst on Tuesday. Despite trading Rafael Devers to the Giants, Boston didn’t miss a beat, riding a balanced lineup and sharp bullpen to a strong homestand. Pitching depth held up well, and they’ve now won eight of their last ten, making few teams hotter in the AL right now.
Up next: vs. Royals (8/4-6), @ Padres (8/8-10)
10. Houston Astros (62-50)
7/28 – vs. Nationals – Lost 2-1
7/29 – vs. Nationals – Won 7-4
7/30 – vs. Nationals – Won 9-1
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Red Sox – Lost 2-1 (10)
8/2 – @ Red Sox – Lost 7-3
8/3 – @ Red Sox – Lost 6-1
After a solid series win over the Nationals, the Astros were outmatched in Boston, getting swept and scoring just five total runs in three games. Starting pitching faltered and the offense struggled to string together quality at-bats. The bullpen also failed to protect a late lead in extras on Thursday. Houston’s inconsistency continues to haunt them, and after a quiet trade deadline, questions remain about whether they’ve done enough to stay competitive down the stretch.
Up next: @ Marlins (8/4-6), @ Yankees (8/8-10)
11. New York Yankees (60-52)
7/28 – vs. Rays – Lost 4-2
7/29 – vs. Rays – Won 7-5
7/30 – vs. Rays – Won 5-4 (11)
7/31 – vs. Rays – Won 7-4
8/1 – @ Marlins – Lost 13-12
8/2 – @ Marlins – Lost 2-0
8/3 – @ Marlins – Lost 7-3
The Yankees opened strong, taking three of four from the Rays with gritty comebacks and late-inning heroics. But a trip to Miami quickly spoiled the momentum, as New York was swept in a humbling three-game series. With new bullpen acquisitions like David Bednar, Camilo Doval, and Jake Bird all unraveling in their Yankee debuts, many question if these guys can ultimately bounce back into reliable-enough options to help them sneak into the postseason or potentially win a division title.
Up next: @ Rangers (8/4-6), vs. Astros (8/8-10)
12. Seattle Mariners (60-53)
7/28 – @ Athletics – Won 3-1
7/29 – @ Athletics – Lost 6-1
7/30 – @ Athletics – Lost 5-4
7/31 – vs. Rangers – Won 6-0
8/1 – vs. Rangers – Won 4-3
8/2 – vs. Rangers – Lost 6-4 (11)
8/3 – vs. Rangers – Won 5-4
Seattle had a mixed but encouraging week, with a road stumble against the A’s in Sacramento before handling the Rangers with three wins in four games, getting strong efforts from both the rotation and bullpen. The lineup showed fresh power and speed, and with Julio Rodríguez heating up again and strong acquisitions like Eugenio Suárez and Josh Naylor, the Mariners remain in the thick of the AL Wild Card hunt and are trending in the right direction.
Up next: vs. White Sox (8/5-7), vs. Rays (8/8-10)
13. Texas Rangers (58-55)
7/28 – @ Angels – Lost 6-4
7/29 – @ Angels – Lost 8-5
7/30 – @ Angels – Won 6-3
7/31 – @ Mariners – Lost 6-0
8/1 – @ Mariners – Lost 4-3
8/2 – @ Mariners – Won 6-4 (11)
8/3 – @ Mariners – Lost 5-4
The Rangers’ week started poorly and didn’t get much better. They dropped two of three in Anaheim, then lost three of four in Seattle, with their only win coming in an 11-inning nail-biter. Starting pitching was hit-or-miss, and the bullpen blew multiple late leads. Despite the presence of some veteran bats, the offense couldn’t deliver in clutch spots, and their postseason hopes are slipping as they continue to underachieve against divisional competition.
Up next: vs. Yankees (8/4-6), vs. Phillies (8/8-10)
14. Cincinnati Reds (58-54)
7/28 – vs. Dodgers – Lost 5-2
7/29 – vs. Dodgers – Lost 5-4
7/30 – vs. Dodgers – Won 5-2
7/31 – vs. Braves – Lost 12-11 (10)
8/1 – vs. Braves – Won 3-2
8/2 – vs. Braves (in Bristol, TN) – POSTPONED
8/3 – vs. Braves (in Bristol, TN) – Lost 4-2
The Reds fought hard but came away with little to show after losing two of three to both the Dodgers and Braves, with each series featuring close, competitive games. They couldn’t hold a lead in Sunday’s 4-2 loss to Atlanta at Bristol Motor Speedway, and while the offense remains dangerous, late defensive lapses and an unreliable bullpen continue to cost them. Cincinnati still sits on the playoff bubble, needing a stronger August to stay alive.
Up next: @ Cubs (8/4-6), @ Pirates (8/7-10, 4 Games)
15. Miami Marlins (55-55)
7/28 – @ Cardinals – Lost 7-1
7/29 – @ Cardinals – Won 5-0
7/30 – @ Cardinals – Won 2-0
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Yankees – Won 13-12
8/2 – vs. Yankees – Won 2-0
8/3 – vs. Yankees – Won 7-3
Miami had arguably their best week of the season after responding to a Monday loss to the Cardinals with five straight wins, including a dominant three-game sweep of the Yankees. The offense exploded late on Friday with 13 runs, then leaned on elite pitching in the next two games. The rotation was lights-out, the bullpen sealed tight finishes over the weekend, and they’ve now clawed back to .500 and are firmly back in the Wild Card race.
Up next: vs. Astros (8/4-6), @ Braves (8/7-10, 5 Games)
16. Kansas City Royals (56-56)
7/28 – vs. Braves – Lost 10-7
7/29 – vs. Braves – Won 9-6
7/30 – vs. Braves – Won 1-0 (10)
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Blue Jays – Won 9-3
8/2 – @ Blue Jays – Lost 4-2
8/3 – @ Blue Jays – Won 7-4 (10)
The Royals posted an impressive 4-2 record this week, earning series wins over two playoff-caliber teams in the Braves and Blue Jays. Kansas City’s pitching staff stepped up, particularly the bullpen, while Bobby Witt Jr. continued to shine offensively, and the lineup came through in key moments, giving this team confidence to play with again. This strong homestand keeps them firmly in the AL Wild Card race heading into a critical August stretch.
Up next: @ Red Sox (8/4-6), @ Twins (8/8-10)
17. San Francisco Giants (56-56)
7/28 – vs. Pirates – Lost 6-5
7/29 – vs. Pirates – Lost 3-1
7/30 – vs. Pirates – Lost 2-1 (10)
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Mets – Won 4-3 (10)
8/2 – @ Mets – Lost 12-6
8/3 – @ Mets – Won 12-4
It was a rough road trip for the Giants, who were swept by the Pirates before rebounding to take two of three from the Mets. Even with big pitching performance by Logan Webb on Wednesday, the offense sputtered in Pittsburgh, but Rafael Devers provided a spark in New York with some big hits, including a four-RBI game that saw a home run on Sunday. San Francisco is clinging to playoff hopes but will need more consistency across the board.
Up next: @ Pirates (8/4-6), vs. Nationals (8/8-10)
18. Cleveland Guardians (56-55)
7/28 – vs. Rockies – Lost 8-6
7/29 – vs. Rockies – Won 10-4
7/30 – vs. Rockies – Won 5-0
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Twins – Won 3-2 (10)
8/2 – vs. Twins – Won 5-4
8/3 – vs. Twins – Lost 5-4
Cleveland stayed hot with back-to-back series wins over the Rockies and Twins, going 4-2 on the week to try and close in on Wild Card contention. José Ramírez has been on a tear lately, and even without closer Emmanuel Clase in the pitching rotation, they received a strong outing from Gavin Williams. The Guardians continue to do the little things well and are proving they have the depth and discipline to come back in the division.
Up next: @ Mets (8/4-6), @ White Sox (8/8-10)
19. St. Louis Cardinals (56-57)
7/28 – vs. Marlins – Won 7-1
7/29 – vs. Marlins – Lost 5-0
7/30 – vs. Marlins – Lost 2-0
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Padres – Lost 4-1
8/2 – @ Padres – Won 8-5
8/3 – @ Padres – Lost 7-3
The Cardinals struggled again this week, managing just one win apiece in series against the Marlins and Padres. The rotation faltered early in counts, and defensive lapses cost them extra outs. Offensively, Nolan Arenado is dealing with an injury, and there wasn’t enough support throughout the lineup. St. Louis continues to drift out of postseason contention, needing a late-summer surge to salvage an otherwise disappointing season.
Up next: @ Dodgers (8/4-6), vs. Cubs (8/8-10)
20. Los Angeles Angels (54-58)
7/28 – vs. Rangers – Won 6-4
7/29 – vs. Rangers – Won 8-5
7/30 – vs. Rangers – Lost 6-3
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. White Sox – Lost 6-3
8/2 – vs. White Sox – Lost 1-0
8/3 – vs. White Sox – Won 8-5
The Angels played .500 ball this week, taking two of three from the Rangers before dropping a series to the White Sox. Their offense, powered by Mike Trout and Luis Rengifo, showed flashes of explosiveness, but the bullpen remains inconsistent. José Soriano and Reid Detmers pitched well, but a lack of run support haunted them late in games. This team is treading water in the AL standings, needing a strong August to stay relevant.
Up next: vs. Rays (8/4-6), @ Tigers (8/8-10)
21. Tampa Bay Rays (55-58)
7/28 – @ Yankees – Won 4-2
7/29 – @ Yankees – Lost 7-5
7/30 – @ Yankees – Lost 5-4 (11)
7/31 – @ Yankees – Lost 7-4
8/1 – vs. Dodgers – Lost 5-0
8/2 – vs. Dodgers – Won 4-0
8/3 – vs. Dodgers – Lost 3-0
The Rays won three out of four this week, dropping three of those four games to the Yankees and losing two of three to the Dodgers at home. Ryan Pepiot struggled in his outing against New York, and the offense was shut out twice against LA. Despite flashes from the rotation, Tampa Bay’s inconsistent bats remain a concern. Now sitting three games below .500, the Rays must find stability quickly to stay alive in the AL Wild Card race.
Up next: @ Angels (8/4-6), @ Mariners (8/8-10)
22. Baltimore Orioles (51-61)
7/28 – vs. Blue Jays – Won 11-4
7/29 – vs. Blue Jays – Won 16-4
7/29 – vs. Blue Jays – Won 3-2
7/30 – vs. Blue Jays – Lost 9-8
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Cubs – Lost 1-0
8/2 – @ Cubs – Won 4-3
8/3 – @ Cubs – Lost 5-3
Baltimore posted a dominant 3-1 series win over Toronto, scoring 38 runs across those games, which included 8 in the lone loss. However, the offense couldn’t sustain momentum in Chicago, dropping two of three to the Cubs, but even then, the Orioles are showing more fight at the plate lately, especially at home. They remain on the outside looking in, but this week offered glimpses of a more dangerous, productive lineup.
Up next: @ Phillies (8/4-6), vs. Athletics (8/8-10)
23. Minnesota Twins (52-59)
7/28 – vs. Red Sox – Won 5-4
7/29 – vs. Red Sox – Lost 8-5
7/30 – vs. Red Sox – Lost 13-1
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Guardians – Lost 3-2 (10)
8/2 – @ Guardians – Lost 5-4
8/3 – @ Guardians – Won 5-4
The Twins fell short in both series this week, going one-for-three against Boston at home and on the road in Cleveland. With Byron Buxton sidelined the past week, the lineup has lacked explosiveness, and the bullpen squandered key leads in two one-run losses. Despite this rough stretch of games, they still remain somewhat in the thick of the wild card mix, though pressure is mounting for a lineup that has struggled to string together big innings.
Up next: @ Tigers (8/4-6), vs. Twins (8/8-10)
24. Arizona Diamondbacks (53-59)
7/28 – @ Tigers – Lost 5-1
7/29 – @ Tigers – Lost 12-2
7/30 – @ Tigers – Lost 7-2
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Athletics – Lost 5-1
8/2 – @ Athletics – Won 7-2
8/3 – @ Athletics – Won 6-4
Arizona’s week started off rough with a sweep in Detroit, but they rebounded to win two of three in Sacramento against the A’s. The offense has shown flashes, but it remains extremely inconsistent up and down the lineup, especially with Eugenio Suárez joining fellow former D-back Josh Naylor in Seattle now. With the division race slipping away, Arizona needs better consistency to stay relevant in the wild card chase, especially from guys like Corbin Carroll and Brandon Pfaadt.
Up next: vs. Padres (8/4-6), vs. Rockies (8/8-10)
25. Athletics (49-65)
7/28 – vs. Mariners – Lost 3-1
7/29 – vs. Mariners – Won 6-1
7/30 – vs. Mariners – Won 5-4
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Diamondbacks – Won 5-1
8/2 – vs. Diamondbacks – Lost 7-2
8/3 – vs. Diamondbacks – Lost 6-4
The Athletics split the week this week, including a surprising series win over the surging Mariners and a surprising series loss to the struggling Diamondbacks. The franchise continues to make strategic roster moves, both trades and promotions, to shape its long-term rebuild. JP Sears was dealt at the deadline, while the front office remains aggressive in evaluating talent on both sides of the ball. It’s a team in transition, but the young core is getting valuable reps.
Up next: @ Nationals (8/5-7), @ Orioles (8/8-10)
26. Atlanta Braves (47-63)
7/28 – @ Royals – Won 10-7
7/29 – @ Royals – Lost 9-6
7/30 – @ Royals – Lost 1-0 (10)
7/31 – @ Reds – Won 12-11 (10)
8/1 – @ Reds – Lost 3-2
8/2 – vs. Reds (in Bristol, TN) – POSTPONED
8/3 – vs. Reds (in Bristol, TN) – Won 4-2
Atlanta split their six games this week, dropping two of three to the Royals before taking two of three from the Reds, including a 4-2 victory at Bristol Motor Speedway behind Eli White’s two home runs. The Braves continue to flash offensive upside but remain erratic, and while they’re still fighting an incredibly uphill battle in the NL Wild Card race, time’s running out for a team that seemed to have one of the league’s most talented rosters.
Up next: vs. Brewers (8/4-6), vs Marlins (8/7-10, 5 Games)
27. Pittsburgh Pirates (48-64)
7/28 – @ Giants – Won 6-5
7/29 – @ Giants – Won 3-1
7/30 – @ Giants – Won 2-1 (10)
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Rockies – Lost 17-16
8/2 – @ Rockies – Lost 8-5
8/3 – @ Rockies – Won 9-5
The Pirates had a strong start to the week, sweeping San Francisco on the road, but cooled off in Colorado with a 1-2 series loss. Their 16-run outburst on Friday still ended in defeat, highlighting issues for a pitching lineup that seemed to, for the most part, carry this team. Still, Pittsburgh has looked better of late and is working to claw out of the NL Central cellar, aiming to catch up with struggling teams like St. Louis.
Up next: vs. Giants (8/4-6), vs. Reds (8/7-10, 4 Games)
28. Chicago White Sox (42-70)
7/28 – vs. Phillies – Won 6-2
7/29 – vs. Phillies – Lost 6-3
7/30 – vs. Phillies – Won 9-3
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – @ Angels – Won 6-3
8/2 – @ Angels – Won 1-0
8/3 – @ Angels – Lost 8-5
Despite their record, the White Sox had a solid, competitive week, taking series over both the Phillies and Angels. Luis Robert Jr. has quietly delivered consistent production at the plate and in the field, helping spark a struggling offense. While Chicago is far removed from the postseason picture, there’s a growing sense of stability as the younger core gets more reps. Without much to play for, they’re playing spoiler instead, and they’re showing signs of pride along the way.
Up next: @ Mariners (8/5-7), vs. Guardians (8/8-10)
29. Washington Nationals (44-67)
7/28 – @ Astros – Won 2-1
7/29 – @ Astros – Lost 7-4
7/30 – @ Astros – Lost 9-1
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Brewers – Lost 16-9
8/2 – vs. Brewers – Lost 8-2
8/3 – vs. Brewers – Lost 14-3
It was a brutal week for the Nationals, who won only one out of six after dropping series to both Houston and Milwaukee. In fact, they were outscored 38-14 by the Brewers alone, proving that Washington’s pitching woes continue to spiral after five straight games giving up at least seven runs, and the offense can’t keep up either. While youth development remains the priority, the current trend signals more pain ahead as they navigate another tough rebuilding stretch.
Up next: vs. Athletics (8/5-7), @ Giants (8/8-10)
30. Colorado Rockies (30-81)
7/28 – @ Guardians – Won 8-6
7/29 – @ Guardians – Lost 10-4
7/30 – @ Guardians – Lost 5-0
7/31 – OFF
8/1 – vs. Pirates – Won 17-16
8/2 – vs. Pirates – Won 8-5
8/3 – vs. Pirates – Lost 9-5
Colorado’s week included a surprising series win over Pittsburgh and a tough series loss in Cleveland. They scored 17 and 8 runs in back-to-back wins, showing unexpected power at Coors Field, but their pitching continues to be an issue. Still, the Rockies are firmly at the very bottom of the MLB standings, which they likely won’t move out of anytime soon, but their recent offensive output shows they’re capable of ruining someone else’s playoff chase at any point.
Up next: vs. Blue Jays (8/4-6), @ Diamondbacks (8/8-10)
